What is a CPT (Competitive Price Threshold)?

CPT stands for Competitive Price Threshold. The CPT on a listing is based on competitive prices from other retailers (excluding other Amazon sellers) and is used as a guideline to determine Buy Box eligibility.

If your item price + shipping is above the CPT, your offer may be ineligible for the Buy Box.

When provided, this value is automatically used in our Get the Buy Box strategy and in Smart Max Price to help ensure your offer stays Buy Box eligible and prevents listings from being delisted across all strategies.

Where can I see an item's CPT in Informed Repricer?

You can access CPT in several places:

  • Listings page – Add CPT as a column

  • Listing Control Panel (click the pencil icon) – Under the Competition Insights tab

  • Uploads & Exports – CPT is included in:

    • Export All Columns report

    • Export Current Columns report (when the CPT column is visible)

    • All_Fields_NextGen API reports

Note: CPT values are only shown when Amazon includes them in their AnyOfferChanged notification, and not all listings receive this data. The Export All Columns & Export Current Columns reports can be accessed via the Listings Page by clicking the ellipsis in the top right-hand corner.

How does Informed Repricer use CPT when repricing?

CPT is a guideline, not a hard price limit. Informed uses it in these situations:

  • Get the Buy Box, Dominate stance: when a CPT is available, your price moves to it and always stays at or below it, within your min and max prices. This is the fastest path to Buy Box eligibility and the win. On the Defend and Compete stances, your price steps down gradually instead, so you keep more margin.

  • Raising your price while you hold the Buy Box: Informed will not raise your price above the CPT. Going above it can cost you Buy Box eligibility, and losing eligibility can suppress the Buy Box.

  • Smart Max Price: your Smart Max is never set above the CPT.

If the current Buy Box offer is priced above the CPT, Informed disregards the CPT for that listing, since the CPT is clearly not limiting Buy Box eligibility there.

Strategies other than Get the Buy Box reprice by your rules and do not factor in CPT. Your minimum price always takes priority over CPT.
